Subject: Number Game - Feedback
Date: Fri, 04 May 01 18:32:54 IST
Hello,
Am Rajeeb, First of all, lemme congratlate u people, on making this Number Game and yes i played the game, i got it from CHIP magazine and I had also written this game 3/4 yrs back in GNU C++ when MS products were not in the market, when it was only available in FoxPro as a part of the software as a option called "Puzzle". I would like to suggest u, few things which i had implemented in the same game.
1. A history of top ten players can be maintained on the basis of time taken to finish the game, in each category.
2. A easy to use keyboard hits can be given, so that the player can play with arrow keys also.
3. A minimize option of the window can be given, so that the window can be minimized on the task bar, so that the time will be stopped when the window is minimized and the player can play it again by maximising the window.
4. A button called "Shuffle" can be given so that the player can shuffle the numbers whenever wants to, which will help the player to choose a particular combination of nummbers to play, no need to play a new game.
5. The game shud accept the number of numbers which can be played by a player in the "Expert" section since it is fixed "25". If any player wants to play more than that, the game shud generate a grid and the number of numbers and of course, u can keep an upper limit to it.
If u can access, check the option called "Puzzle" in Foxpro 2.6 (Dos-based).
Thanx and Regards

Hi Rajeeb,
First of all, Thank you for appreciating our game and also thanks a lot for the suggestions. We really admire it and we will try to implement it as soon as possible. Right now we are having our Third year final exams, so we are not able to give our full time to it. Next time whenever we start developing this or any other, we think you will allow us to consult you.
Thanks again,

Hi Sonia,
Here is the NumGame's Code attached with this mail. It is a zip file (Sonia.zip) and the password is "sonia". Unzip and you will get all the files with forms and code. As told you earlier, we couldn't develop further as we have got some other work. So we are sending the complete code of the NumGame which was published in the Chip. I think, you can change the Algorithm we used and can develop a efficient with more options. Hope we will get (atleast the exe file) the further developed game by you. I wish you all the best.
After receiving let us know, whether you get complete files or not. If any problem we will send you by another attachment.

Hi Ashish Garg,
How are you? Howz life going on? Hope everything is fine.
What do you want about the NumGame? About using, just click on any
buttuon beside the empty space. it will automatically slide into the empty
space. you have to arrange all those in a particular order. Thats what you
have to do. some randomizations (or new game positions) dont have solutions.
So once if you can not solve, you can not do it forever.
If you want the code, let me know about that i will send you..

Hello the creators of the Number Game,
I am a mechanical engineering student studying my 3rd year at R.V.R & J.C Engg College at Guntur.
I am always interested in creating such small games and programs. You were very good at creating the same interface as that of MS Windows. I got a copy of this game from my friend. We just wondered whether we could get the code and small info as to how the game was created and implemented.
I am not that good at Vb but your game has turned me. I feel it would be possible to have the code of the game.

Subject: Code of NumGame2
Hi Saurabh,
How are you? Howz life going on? Hope everything is going fine. Here is
the code you asked. For this you should have WinZip. I think getting a
WinZip is not a big problem. You can get it any computer magazine CD. Unzip
the files and open those in Visual Basic. Other thing I didn't write any
comments in that. Hope you can understand the code. Actually I am trying to
give somemore options in this game. Any way if you are not able to
understand the Algorithm and all let me know about it. I will tell you next
time when we meet or by mail. If any problem with downloading this zip file,
tell me I will send you normal .frm, .vbp files of the NumGame.
This code is somewhat updated and it has other option like "Highest
Scores" which is not in the version published in the Chip CD. This is
NumGame2.
Let me know about you, your college and all. I am doing my engineering in
Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur.
Sorry for my late reply.
Waiting for your reply.
With Regards

Hi!
Thanks for your mail and for the code.
I am doing BCA from Arcade Business College, Patna (affiliated to Magadh
University). Actually I was supposed to pass out in in June 2001 but you
must be well aware of the delay. It may take 6 more months.
I used to work for Xerox Corp. (Modi Xerox) as a Customer Relations
Co-ordinator in Patna
but I left the job as I was planning to start preparing for MBA. One of my
close friends was in your institute but he left long ago when he competed
for IIT.
Right now I am working with SIS Infotech, a Hyderabad based co. as a
freelancer.
I am studying VB from books. It is not in our syllabus and I haven't joined
an institute.
So, I would be very grateful if you send me more of you codes. It would be
of great help to me.
Write more about you and your projects.
Thanks once again,
Regards,
Saurabh.

Hai Vanga Sasidhar & Pinjalim Bora,
I saw your game and it was really nice. It was efficiently done. Keep it up guys. Iam doing my 1st year computer science engg in TamilNadu. Iam not a guy who get high marks in the exam but I have strong liking to the programming part of the computer.
Now, I noticed one real interesting part of your appln ie trapping of the close button on the right hand corner of the program and making the user to exit using the menu. I searched thro' the website and referred to many books but I couldn't get to know about that. Please help me in knowing that.
See you,
prabhu

HI Prabhu,
About the query you made...
for that you have to write code in QueryUnload event.
In that take unloadMode as vbFormControlPanel and Cancel = 1. For
other unload modes go to object browser.
If you have any problem feel free to ask us.
Sorry for our late reply
