NumGame > History
Pinjalim Bora, my room-mate, class-mate, bench-mate, branch-mate and my best friend, he is the person behind this game - NumGame. Even though our major in engineering is Mechanical at National Institute of Technology (Formerly known as Regional Institute of Technology), Jamshedpur, we are very much interested in Computers. We just wanted to enter into computer field and at the same time we were planning to develop a small application. So, started thinking of a project, and Pinju, came out with an idea of this game. Even though this game seems to be very simple, as a beginner entering into the computer field, this game is a good start. As this is having so many numbers in it, we named it as "NumGame".
NumGame > Development
Once after thinking of the logic behind this game, we were in search of a programming language, using which we can build this game. Then we chose, Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0. At that time we weren't having a computer with us in the hostel room. So we hired a computer for completing this game. Thanks to "Ranjan Computers", a computer institute at Adityapur, Jamshedpur, who provide us a computer on hire.
NumGame > Publishing
After completing the game successfully, we thought of publishing our "NumGame". Started searching for a magazine, which is very famous. At last, we selected "Chip" (presently known as "Digit"). We wrote a mail to "Chip" people about publishing our game in thier CD and they were readily accepted and it was published in their magazine for two months (May 2001 and June 2001). We also mention in our game that if anyone is interested in getting the code, asked them to mail us at : vanpin@rediffmail.com. Ofcourse, at present this mail id is not working.
NumGame > Success
As a great success, we had a huge response from all the users of this game and many users asked for the code of this game and we readily gave that code. For a full list of response mails we got from NumGame Fans, please visit "NumGame Fans" section of this site.
You can download this game as well as the code behind this game from this website.
NumGame > Description
This is a small game consisting of square blocks with labels from 1 to 8 for Beginner level, 1 to 15 for Intermediate level and 1 to 24 for Expert level. The user has to arrange the blocks in increasing order from left to right and top to bottom. For every new game the blocks will be randomised. A counter keeps track of the time taken by the user to finish the game and another keeps track of the number of blocks in the correct position. All the blocks in the correct position will have the same color than the blocks in the wrong position.
